The baby quilt is done, we are just missing THE BABY! Why must I always be late? I wish I would have taken some better pictures of the quilt but you get the jist of it. I ended up doing a white border around it and then binded it with that green/white fabric. The quilt kind of reminds me of the scrap quilt I made over the Summer- all crazy and stuff. I think I used 10 different fabrics- which were then cut into 2 1/2 " strips & sewn together in sets of 3. They were then cut into squares which were, I think, 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". Some parts of the top drive me a bit crazy. I laid them all out before sewing but the crazyness of the top made me miss some pieces that I really wished I would have changed around, but oh well. I'm happy enough with it. I love pulling new quilts out of the dryer when they are all wrinkled & soft and squishy. Pure satisfaction. Oh the back of the quilt.... I didn't have enough of the blue, so the back is mostly blue, with a strip of pieced together fabrics and then the red. I actually really like the back.
Anyway- thanks for all the name advice/help. A few of you nailed the name that we are more than likely going with (you smarty pants!) and I am feeling better about it. I kind of started packing a hospital bag, which is good because I've been having pretty steady contractions this evening, so let's keep our fingers crossed for a baby soon! I can't wait for you all to meet him!
I think I'm nesting. Monday turned out to be a day of nearly 10 loads of laundry, (and for the record, I will jump for joy when the day comes that I don't have to pay $2.50 per load of laundry), washing & setting up the co-sleeper and washing the car seat & all the baby clothes. I'm still recovering. Does anyone have any good suggestions on drawer organizers? The baby clothes are so small folded in that dresser and when the piles start to inevitably topple over it's going to be a mess in there. Let me know. Still no hospital bag packed, BUT major progress on the quilt. The entire top is done and just needs to be put together & binded. Huzzah! Still working on the to-do list but the tree is decorated and just a handful of things need to be done. This book has been on my night stand for months. We bought it when we were pregnant with Henry. I was pouring over this book on the delivery bed while laboring with Kate. For any new readers to this space, we really struggled with naming Kate and changed her name a month after she was born (by the way it still has not been legally changed....all the paperwork was recently sent back to us because I left one of the squares on the form blank....lame!)The back of the book has a little workbook page where you can write down all the names you like. We have names from when we were naming Henry and of course Kate. I even have some contraction times written down on this page from Kate's delivery. We have a name picked out for this little one, but I get a little panicky and start feeling unsure about it but have sworn to myself that we will not repeat what happened with Kate. I wish names weren't so difficult. I really want something that goes with Henry & Kate but I realize they won't always spend their lives together & it doesn't really matter. I'm just not 100% and that feeling sucks rotten donut holes. I just don't know what to do. Added to the to-do list: Pick a name for the baby (we are rapidly running out of time!) Maybe it's time for a new book. Maybe it's not the very best name book after all.
Hospital bag packed? Nope. Co-sleeper set up? Nah. Baby clothes washed? Fughettabout it. Car seat installed? um...No. I decided at 9:00 last night to start a quilt for the baby. With less than a week until my due-date I'm feeling like I should only be required to do things that fall into the 'fun' category. I'm not really sure what I'm doing here but baby quilts are small and I'm confident that I'll have this thing finished in no time at all. I may not have a hospital bag packed, but I will have a cute baby blanket. That's all that really matters. Hospital bag, schmospital bag.
Crab apples. They are so small. I spotted them at the market and had to get a dozen. I love miniature things (i.e., cake stands, individual s&p shakers, etc.,) and thought they'd be perfect dipped in caramel. Like a bite-sized caramel apple. Yum. So today we dipped. By we, I mean I. I don't think I've ever eaten a crab apple. I hope they are delicious. We have some Thanksgiving projects on the agenda. Any good ideas for kids? Henry asked to make these again (and holy cow-look how little Ms. Kate has grown!) How about a turkey hat? Will they think I am racist against turkeys? I do like to eat them on Thanksgiving (I thought that whole thread was so lame by the way)

Hmmm....the 2nd time someone who reads this blog thinks so... did you see the comments over at ohdeedoh? Really ???Can't a girl just throw a teepee party? I thought teepees would be cool (and it was the idea of a 4 year-old anyway.) Sheesh. Now I apparently hate Native Americans.
psst...hey remember Henry's teepee party? Well, the lovely folks at Ohdeedoh are kicking off "Kids Party Month" and have featured Henry's part-ay. You can read all about it here, and be sure to check back- I can't wait to see all their great party ideas!
It's been a crazy few days- will be back next week more regularly.
